We want to stay dry in the rain and EKSEMPEL’s designer have always had a crush on oilskin. In her teenage years, she wore her father’s old oilskin coat as she loved the look and characteristics of the fabric.
A practical, yet über-cool, light-weighted outerwear garment with the qualities needed on the windy, wet days.
The fabric distresses over time and develops a soft sheen reminiscent of a well-worn leather jacket.
If you treat it with care and wax it well with beeswax it will last a lifetime.
The oilskin coat is made in GOTS certified organic cotton, impregnated with beeswax. The fine-waxed poplin fabric has a crash look and is water and wind resistant.
The coat has a detachable hood, drop shoulders, snap button closure, front pockets, adjustable straps on sleeves, long back slit and half lining.

GOTS certified waxed organic cotton
Ecological Textiles is a webshop with wide range of sustainable fabrics. Ecological Textiles stands for environmentally sound production, fair trade and quality. Ecological Textiles is GOTS certified. Wax impregnated cotton originated in the sailing industry. For centuries, sailors have been aware that wet sails are more efficient than dry sails and have impregnated their sails with fish oil, and later with linseed oil and paraffin. As a side effect, impregnated cotton turned out to be water repellant.
Ecological Textiles developed its own variety of wax impregnated fabrics, combining GOTS cetified organic linen and organic cotton with beeswax from sustainable production.
